Nortera Celebrates $25M Expansion of Frozen Vegetable Warehouse in Strathroy, Ontario

STRATHROY, ON, February 4, 2025 – Nortera, a North American leader in frozen and canned vegetable processing, proudly unveiled the $25 million expansion of its Wright Street frozen warehouse in Strathroy, Ontario today. This investment directly supports the local economy by sustaining over 270 jobs and strengthening Nortera’s partnerships with Ontario vegetable farmers. 

The 100,000 square foot expansion significantly increases Nortera’s capacity to store, process and transport frozen vegetables across Ontario, ensuring products reach store shelves faster and more efficiently. It also reinforces Strathroy’s position as a vital hub for food production and distribution in Southwestern Ontario.

Nortera’s partnerships with over 200 Ontario vegetable growers ensure consumers can find a consistent supply of high-quality, Canadian grown and processed vegetable products in their local grocery stores, restaurants, and institutions. The expanded facility will strengthen local and regional supply chains and bring even more of these products to Ontario families’ tables, faster.

Nortera Expansion by the Numbers:

  • The total investment in the expansion was $25 million.
  • The expansion supports 274 existing jobs at Nortera’s Strathroy warehouse and nearby processing facility, contributing to a larger workforce of nearly 1,000 employees across Nortera’s four Ontario facilities, which includes 3 processing facilities and the newly expanded warehouse.
  • The warehouse expansion adds over 100,000 square feet, the equivalent of two football fields.
  • 8,705 pallet positions of new double-deep racking systems were installed as part of the project to improve operational efficiency.
